The ECSC Definitive Guide: Mayan Farm, Kin Kin

Mayan Farm Kin Kin

There are getaways, and then there are places that gently, but firmly, insist you slow down. Places where the very walls seem to breathe, where the air is cleaner, the views are wider, and the silence is a luxury all its own.

High in the rolling green hills of the Noosa Hinterland, in the quiet country enclave of Kin Kin, you’ll find Mayan Farm – and it is precisely one of those places.

Mayan Farm isn’t just accommodation; it’s a collection of unique, soulful retreats, each born from rammed earth and recycled timber. It’s the passion project of owner Jodie Williams, who many will remember from her beloved Black Ant Gourmet Cafe, and her partner, Brett Gowley, the master designer and builder behind these spectacular spaces.

It began with the original villa, The Residence, perched high on a hill with sweeping, cinematic views over the Kin Kin valley. It's a space that feels both grand and grounded, with luxurious living quarters that celebrate texture and warmth. Every modern luxury you could need is here, but it’s the feeling of the place – solid, serene, and connected to the landscape – that truly stays with you.

Below this hill, nestled into the landscape of the original farm, are the four newer villas. Don’t think of them as additions, but as completions of a vision. Each one – Karinya, Mia Mia, K’gari, and Cooinda – is a private sanctuary, echoing the signature style of rammed earth and reclaimed timbers. The level of finish is astonishing, with handcrafted kitchens, deeply comfortable lounges, and bathrooms that you’d expect to find only in a high-end resort. Brett’s craftsmanship and commitment to sustainable luxury are evident in every single detail.

While the temptation to hibernate in your villa is strong, the question of food is answered with a sense of rustic joy. The Residence has its own wood-fired pizza oven, perfect for a sunset feast overlooking the valley. Down below, the four new villas share a beautifully designed barbecue and pizza hub.

Start your day with a farm breakfast basket - for two, everything you need for a hearty country start .

You can also request Jodie’s delicious, fresh, ready-made meals to simply reheat in your villa – think hearty, wholesome cooking that tastes of the country. Charcuterie boards are available for effortless indulgence, and you can even arrange shared dining experiences for up to six guests. (And believe us, for the exceptional quality, the prices are quite amazing!)

Fresh Home Made Pizza

ECSC Insider Tip: You simply must order one of the homemade pizzas and cook it yourself in the pizza oven. There’s something deeply satisfying about sliding your own pizza into the fiery heat, pulling it out crisp and bubbling, and enjoying it with a glass of red as the stars come out. It’s comfort food at its most delicious, whether you’re Italian or not.

Our Final Say: Are you looking for a different style of getaway? Something more than just another fancy hotel? Mayan Farm is where you go to truly indulge, relax, and recharge. It’s a place that feels real, crafted with passion and a deep respect for its surroundings. It’s an escape, in every sense of the word.
