For a while now, the southern end of the Gold Coast has been the epicentre of a certain kind of relaxed sophistication.

And Burleigh Heads, with its laid-back surf culture and burgeoning food scene, has been its heart. Now, a striking new landmark has arrived on its shores, and it feels like the cherry on top.

The Mondrian Gold Coast has officially opened its doors, marking the brand’s Australian debut and ushering in a new era for this new luxury hotel in Burleigh Heads.

We’ve seen our fair share of big hotel openings, but this one feels different.

Rising 24 floors above the pandanus trees, the Mondrian isn't just a place to stay; it's a statement.

The design is international in its coolness—as you’d expect from a brand with outposts in Cannes, Miami, and Seoul—but with a distinct GC twist.

The rooms are enormous, many with full kitchens, and the two-storey Beach Houses with their own plunge pools are pure coastal fantasy.

Oh, and the bathrooms are stocked with Le Labo’s Santal 33. A very nice touch.

Two New Venues, One Stylish Address

The real story for us, however, is always found at the table.

Mondrian brings two distinct new venues to Burleigh’s already vibrant scene. Upstairs on the third floor is Haven, a polished, sun-drenched space where Executive Chef Aaron Teece (formerly of EST. and Felix) presides over a wood-fire grill.

The menu is a love letter to Queensland produce, designed for slow lunches that drift into sunset cocktails by

the pool.

Downstairs, LiTO channels the generosity of an Amalfi Coast summer.

It’s an all-day affair, from post-surf espressos to long, relaxed dinners.

The arrival of a new luxury hotel in Burleigh Heads is always cause for excitement, but the Mondrian feels like more than just a place to sleep.

With its world-class spa, curated cultural events, and two very promising restaurants, it’s set to become a new hub for locals and visitors alike.

It’s a confident, stylish addition that understands the unique magic of its postcode, solidifying Burleigh's reputation as the coast's capital of cool.

The Mondrian at Burleigh is still relatively new- so may have some teething problems - but is it recommended? Absolutely.
